"We proposed increase of science financing on an unparalleled scale" announced the Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the 18th Economic Forum in Krynica. The PM stressed that a free and innovative economy is "one of the pillars of the potential in our region".
“We can definitely say that science has become the number one priority for the government. Such a sizeable increase in financing for scientific research, research infrastructure and for the best scientists is something that Poland has never had before. “It is a vote of confidence received by us, the minister and the entire scientific community from the government and the society as a whole” said the minister of science and higher education, Barbara Kudrycka, who also attended the Economic Forum.
“Joint work on the ministry’s ideas and efficiently implemented reforms will allow us to deliver what is expected of us and effectively utilize the increased financing benefitting the Polish science and The development of Poland” added Kudrycka. The matter of increased science financing was also addressed today by the minister of finance, Jacek Rostowski, speaking with the Dziennik newspaper. “A very significant increase in the financing for science – as much as 28 percent – is possible owing to a well-prepared package of five acts that will reform this sector. There will be a marked change in the money spending mechanisms in this area."
Shortly, at the end of September, Barbara Kudrycka, the minister of science and higher education, will present a package of acts reforming the Polish science sector. This will include an act on the Polish Academy of Sciences, Research Institutes, the National Centre for Research and Development, on the establishment of the National Science Centre, and on the new principles of science financing.
